As the Staples commercials say, “It’s the most wonderful time of year!” It’s the time when students are either heading on-campus (or online) to start their post-secondary experience or are heading back to school on the road to completion. Given that 86% of students choose to pursue their education specifically to drive career outcomes, we thought it would be a great time to revisit an article and talk from Michelle Weise, Chief Innovation Officer, at Strada Education Network.
Michelle articulates the importance for higher education to reimagine itself as the workforce evolves, and also the need for higher education institutions to become transparent in sharing what career outcomes their programs and degrees generate. Students are motivated by career and have become savvier consumers of education; they increasingly want more visibility into career outcomes, as it influences their enrollment decision. In order to stay competitive and better support their communities, post-secondary institutions need to think strategically about their role in career, for their prospects, current students and alumni.
